The Back Story of Meraki LB
We really did hype this elaborate project of ours for months! A lot of people have hit us up or asked us about our secret project guessing that it had something to do with music, TV, fashion, or moving somewhere insane. Reality is we went through this sort of self-discovery between the three of us and 2016 turned out to be the best year of our lives because of it. It’s insane to think back on it now when I didn’t grow up with these girls and it wasn’t like we were these stereotypical high school best friends, that survived a friendship through the college years. It was far from that. We weren’t even friends in high school maybe acquaintances but never friends.
Ironically, enough we were known for being these creative geniuses in high school. Edith was creating outfits for school fashion shows and creating these intricate sketches for art class, Lupay was the one with the raddest hair & the best make up; everyone knew she would go on to pursue a career in that field. And I was never too far from a camera maybe somewhere in a flower field trying to capture my latest idea for a photograph. We were so different in personality, fashion, lifestyle, and hobbies that it was understandable why we never crossed paths in our high school years. The only thing we really even shared was our creative perspectives.
I’d say life was pretty rough for each of us individually and we had to fight our own battles alone. We went through bad friendships, rough choices, and shitty relationships. We were a part of the same shitty cycle that other girls put themselves through. It’s crazy how fast things can change. Edith was childhood friends with Lupay and formed a good friendship with me during college. One day Edith just took me to Lupay’s and it all just clicked.
We had the deepest desire for intellectual conversation. To express our thoughts and idea’s. To be heard. Moving forward from that day we still crave to spend the nights talking about love, about life, about anything and everything. We were bound by no human limitations or negative people. Without knowing it at the time we were learning and feeding off of each other’s energy. There was this security in our friendship in that we could speak without regret or fear of consequence. To talk for hours about what was really important in life.
2016 was our year for sure! We had our up’s, our downs, and our fair share of fuck up’s and bad behavior. Luckily, we weren’t ever the type of girls that shared our friends problems with other girls just to strike up conversation. Nah, we were brutally honest in our worst moments. We challenged each others decisions and bad choices. We became better friends, sisters, girlfriends, and daughters because of it.
We're at this point in our lives where we want nothing but postivity in our lives. Now, we just talk about how hard it was and how hard it still is for other people to find their happiness. Its insane to us when we see how messed up people/friends/lovers are towards each other. Like Why? We realized one day that we had some good opinions and relevant conversations that we shared with each other that we wished other people could listen to too. We want to use Meraki LB as a platform to share with everyone what we’ve been sharing among ourselves for the past few years. Whether it be blogs regarding relationships, friendships, DIY Tutorials,
creative energy, travel plans, or opinions.
The principal of it all is that we found our strength through our journey together as friends. We just want other people to love their fucking life! Drop negative influences and bad relationships. Take pictures of everything. Tell people you love them. Strike up conversations with strangers. Do things that you’re scared to do. Fuck it, because so many of us die and no one remembers a damn thing we did. Take your life and make it the best story in the world. Don’t waste that shit.
