Festival season is here!
My absolute favorite time of the year HAS COMMENCED! Kick starting with Coachella, Leslie and Edith gave me creative freedom to give them some awesome custom tones for the upcoming summer festivities.
Leslie has never had fun vivid color so I was so excited when she said I could give her some fun color! She showed me an inspiration picture of some tones she wanted and trusted me to create something beautiful! Leslie hadn't had her hair done in a few months so she definitely needed some love! I started off by giving her a nice trim to start a clean slate because we had to lighten her hair to achieve these fun tones. I then mixed two different lightener formulas. I mixed one lightener for her ends (something more gentle since she was already light) and one to bring the blonde up higher. I ultimately wanted to lighten her hair to a pre-tone color of Ash Blonde.
I then started applying custom formulas of lavender baby blue light pink and light peach. Typically, while working with vivid colors I always use a freestyle technique. Sometimes I honestly have no idea how I'm going to apply the color until my hands are in the hair and I pick in choose where I want to place certain colors. For this instance, I mixed vibrant pastel tones and added silver tones for the optimum fade out. This look is absolutely perfect for Summer, it's fun and also very wearable.
Initially, we were going to go with the picture that
Leslie showed me as her hair goal. However, she does have an office job so I didn't want to give her anything too vibrant. As her friend I also knew that these colors would quickly become too much for her and eventually she'd just chop off my artwork. NOT HAPPENING!
So I pitched the idea of softer pastel tones. I also wanted to see her in something that would fit her personality and in the end we came up with something I have previously never created! We fell IN LOVE and she left the salon feeling like a "Spice Girl" LOL.
It's so awesome to have creative friends because they were so down to go shoot pictures of their hair outside of the salon. I've been wanting to do a photo shoot of hair in different nature areas. We opted for Gilman Springs and found a nice spot with hills to start shooting because I mean let’s face it Gilman Springs is absolutely beautiful during the spring time! So much life and vibrant lavender and yellow flowers. I am now sprung on the idea of photographing all my clients in beautiful settings like Gilman Springs!
