Prayers for Mexico
It's been a while since we've updated everyone on how Meraki is doing and what we've been up to, but life has dug us in deep in this crazy & busy world. Summer appeared to have been one of the best summers we've ever experience. And just like that it started to end with worldwide disasters. Its absolutely devastating to begin this next blog as we try to figure out wtf is going on with our Mother Nature.
Hurricanes have been the center of so many disasters and we were so emotionally triggered by the devastation in Mexico City & Puerto Rico. I had no idea what happened in Mexico until I had seen a photo on my mothers instagram asking people to pray for all the lives lost in Mexico City. When I googled Mexico City into google I was horrified to find a thread of videos documenting the horror of the 7.1 earthquake.
I couldn't stop crying when the first two videos detailed the collapse of a school full of children. It's hard describe what I felt. Other than feeling flushed in my chest like it was full of nothingness. Maybe fear and hopelessness. I felt so distressed for all the mothers and fathers who had their babies in the rumble. This honestly could happen anywhere! We live in California a state prone earthquakes and thats when I realized that could happen here too. I started to think about my baby brother and how crushed I would be if his school collapsed on him and his classmates.
Immediately, I started googling for websites I could donate for the rescue efforts! I found a article on Fortune.com with links to donate. http://www.topos.mx is where I donated and where the girls and I intend to continue to donate with the sales we make on all our products. For those who want to donate but cannot read in Spanish you can google for a list of foundations in English to make the donation process easier.
$5 will be donated from every product sold to help the rescue efforts in Mexico. Every life matters and every penny counts.
